Kassi.Byamugisha.Mark is a graduate of Kyambogo University in Uganda where he studied an Art course ‘Textiles and Fabric Decoration’.
Disappointed that there was no painting in the above course unit, he embarked on a self-taught journey into what was his only passion, Painting!
The journey was long and very experimental in medium, themes, and style where over the years he matured a style and texture that is a trademark of all his works.
Kassi is not limited to theme’s ranging from human figure to wildlife and abstracts all done in the same segmented painting style for the last fifteen years. However, figurative work now is the key focus in he’s Paintings.
He has had workshops with an emphasis on alternative art materials to inspire creatives who can’t access art materials for batik making, where wax is substituted for cassava starch and currently using Bark Cloth as Canvas.
Kassi is a cofounder of Ikara Art House, a studio he has run with a colleague for Nine years in Kampala.
Kassi has exhibited over the years both Solo and joint exhibitions widely with galleries in the East African region such as Gallery Watatu, Ramoma, Diani art gallery, Nomo gallery, Golden Tulip Juba, Niyo arts Gllery to mention but a few.
The latest Solo exhibitions were in July 2019 at The Talisman Nairobi and July 2022 at Niyo Arts Gallery Kigali.
